ABOUT US:
The owners of Musky Mikes have both been fishing since they could hold a cane pole. Kathy loves bass fishing. Greg is not as particular; as long as he is fishing he is happy, although he enjoys hunting for the giant Musky. They have enjoyed the fishing and the people in Okauchee since 1986. Greg also enjoys swapping fish stories over a cup of coffee.
“Our plan was to give Musky Mike’s Bait and Tackle a permanent home on Wisconsin Avenue, moving it to our property allowed us to expand the store hours as our home is located on the same property” said Kathy.
HISTORY:
Musky Mikes was started about a decade ago with a young fisherman named Mike Kitchen he moved the bait shop around the Town of Oconomowoc until he settled on a spot on Wisconsin Ave in Okauchee. Mike built his business on making friends with the customers and building a bait route which supplied bait around the county to convenience stores and gas stations.
In 2005 after Mike’s sudden passing his parents moved the shop down the road next to the CITGO station. It was then sold in 2007 to a new Okauchee resident and fisherman.
In December of 2009 the business was sold to longtime Okauchee residents and fishermen Greg and Kathy Nickolaus.
